Our Flagship Program

    Mini Makers

    Creativity is trusted.

Mini Makers is Jabberwocky's flagship creative enrichment program, designed specifically for school environments. Delivered by trained instructors, each session provides structured, sensory-rich creative exploration that builds executive function, fine motor skill, and creative confidence — all within a joyful, child-led framework.

    Our Philosophy

Unlike traditional art programs, Mini Makers does not focus on replicating a finished product. We believe that when children are given the freedom to explore materials on their own terms, something remarkable happens.

We introduce materials — not outcomes. We model curiosity — not perfection. We encourage experimentation — not imitation.

    • Introduce materials, not outcomes
    • Model curiosity, not perfection
    • Encourage experimentation, not imitation
    • Support reflection, not comparison

Mini Makers is built around the Jabberwocky Method: prepared environments, beautiful and interesting materials, open-ended invitations, and facilitators who observe far more than they direct. It isn't a curriculum we bought. It's what a decade of watching children with materials taught us to do.

    Program Structure

    60-minute sessions
    12–16 students per group
    Flexible terms (6–14 weeks)
    All materials provided
    Trained Jabberwocky instructors

    What Making Looks Like Here

Sessions are built around invitations, not instructions. Over a term, children might find themselves in territory like this:

    Painting and mark making
    Clay and sculpture
    Printmaking
    Mixed-media exploration
    Collaborative art
    Unusual tools and materials
    Open-ended building and making
    Sensory-material exploration

These are directions, not a fixed curriculum. Fifteen children working with the same clay will not hand you fifteen matching bowls, and that is the point.

The work is developmentally grounded: sessions are sequenced and facilitated with an understanding of what young children can manage, sustain and figure out on their own — attention, fine motor control, decision-making and persistence all get real exercise. We simply don't need to say so on every worktable.

Messy joy — with meaningful impact.
